Smith has been advancing ski goggle technology for over 40 years, and the brand is now synonymous with innovative, durable, top-quality ski and snowboard goggles. They have one of the most envied rosters of athletes in the market, and work with these elite performers to continually innovate and perfect the optics in their goggles. It is not only the technology that is cutting edge - Smith produce some of the most striking eyewear designs around.
Smith prescription ski and snowboard goggles are available in the Turbo Fan range of goggles. As such, lens fogging is a thing of the past - even for the prescription insert. The Smith Ocular Docking System (ODS) is a prescription insert which clips seamlessly into the goggle housing, allowing corrected vision on the slopes.
Prices include the goggles, insert and prescription lenses - the whole package! Delivery, as ever, is free on all orders.
Unusually originating in the ski goggle market rather than sunglasses, Smith's commitment to goggle innovation is unparalleled. In particular, check out the Smith Turbo Fan range of ski goggles, such as the Knowledge and Phenom, which feature micro-electronic fans within the goggles themselves.
Two prescription inserts are used on the Smith prescription ski goggles. The original ODS insert (left of picture) fits the Phenom and Knowledge goggles, and features a rimless lens set up. The new Smith Prophecy goggles are fitted with the ODS 2 insert (right of picture).
“Objects in lens are exactly the same as they appear.” When light passes through a medium it refracts, i.e. changes course. If left uncorrected, this refraction can cause visual distortion and eye fatigue. Smith’s Tapered Lens Technology straightens out the incoming light rays by progressively tapering the lens from the optical center toward the peripheral view. What this means for you is that you see with 100% accuracy and maximum comfort. Available in all Smith Turbo Fan, Spherical and Regulator Series goggles.
Patented micro-electronic fan in the Turbo Fan Series. Turn the fan on when you get to the hill and in the low setting, the Turbo Fan system will run continuously all day long to exhaust moisture from inside the goggle. The high setting can be used to quickly exhaust moisture in extreme conditions. On the low setting the Turbo Fan system can run continuously for up to 50 hours on one AAA battery.
Two single lenses bonded together with a sealed “dead air” space between them create a thermal barrier that keeps the inner lens warm and dry. Like storm windows—but much more comfortable—this process helps prevent fogging by keeping the inner lens above the dew point.
A hydrophilic chemical treatment creates a micro-etched surface on the inner lens to absorb moisture before fog can form. Because Fog-X is a treatment that is actually burned into the lens, it can’t be wiped away like other anti-fog coatings.
Patented Vaporator lens technology leads the industry in thermal lens barriers. Utilizing processes previously reserved for aerospace and medical capacities, our lenses are robotically cut and bonded together with an airtight silicone bead to eliminate lens delamination—the number one cause of between-the-lens fogging.
A revolutionary, micro-porous filter called Porex™ completes the system. Its composition is structured such that air molecules may pass through the filter while water molecules cannot. By utilising this filter, the thermal lens is allowed to adjust to varying altitudes while preventing moisture from entering the space between the lenses. This is the world’s strongest thermal lens barrier.
A key element in goggle/helmet compatibility. Engineered to adjust to a full range of face shapes and sizes, the Articulating Outrigger Positioning System evenly transfers pressure across the brow and nose to ensure a complete seal against the face. When used with a helmet, the outrigger articulates allowing the goggle frame to sink into the helmet face port, ultimately providing a comfortable and consistent fit every time.
Smith uses a unique urethane compound, which allows the frame to conform to individual facial features while maintaining its flexibility in extreme cold temperatures.
A Smith innovation that strategically interrupts the urethane in the nose area of the goggle frame to provide a self-adjusting fit.
Ultra-plush. Perfect fit. The Smith dual layer DriWix compression-molded face foams seal out the wind and moisture for maximum comfort and performance.
Smith's high quality, durable, double-woven strap distributes pressure more evenly around the head to provide superior fit, adjustability and comfort.
The key to ultimate integration starts with the precise fit of the Smith goggle and helmet. Smith helmets are designed to match the curvature of the goggle frame, eliminating “gaper gap” and allowing precise alignment between the helmet AirEvac and the goggle venting systems.
Goggles fog when standard helmets trap warm, moist air in the goggle chamber. The Smith AirEvac ventilation systems generate maximum airflow and pull warm, fog-causing air out of the goggle. The warm air is allowed to exhaust out of the top of the goggle and begin its path through the helmet’s AirEvac system.
AirEvac 2 continues to drive the warm air away from the goggle through external vents and internal channels in the EPS liner. Internal airflow can be adjusted through the helmet’s Regulator climate control system.
