Our View: The all-new Smith Prophecy ski goggles create superior helmet and spectacle compatibility. The minimised surfaces reduce weight and provide clean, updated styling while engineering behind the scenes has further improved performance. Reliefs in the temple area make room for glasses while interior volume has been maintained to help prevent fogging with or without glasses.
The Smith Prophecy ski and snowboard goggles feature the following technical features:
“Objects in lens are exactly the same as they appear.” When light passes through a medium it refracts, i.e. changes course. If left uncorrected, this refraction can cause visual distortion and eye fatigue. Smith’s Tapered Lens Technology straightens out the incoming light rays by progressively tapering the lens from the optical center toward the peripheral view. What this means for you is that you see with 100% accuracy and maximum comfort. Available in all Smith Turbo Fan, Spherical and Regulator Series goggles.
Patented Vaporator lens technology leads the industry in thermal lens barriers. Utilising processes previously reserved for aerospace and medical capacities, Smith lenses are robotically cut and bonded together with an airtight silicone bead to eliminate lens delamination—the number one cause of between-the-lens fogging.
A revolutionary, micro-porous filter called Porex™ completes the system. Its composition is structured such that air molecules may pass through the filter while water molecules cannot. By utilising this filter, the thermal lens is allowed to adjust to varying altitudes while preventing moisture from entering the space between the lenses. This is the world’s strongest thermal lens barrier.
Patented Regulator adjustable lens ventilation system in the Spherical and Regulator Series provides added control of airflow through the goggle. Use the open position while stopped in line or on the lift to increase the circulation of dry, fresh air. Close it before descending to prevent tearing.
Two single lenses bonded together with a sealed “dead air” space between them create a thermal barrier that keeps the inner lens warm and dry. Like storm windows—but much more comfortable—this process helps prevent fogging by keeping the inner lens above the dew point.
A hydrophilic chemical treatment creates a micro-etched surface on the inner lens to absorb moisture before fog can form. Because Fog-X is a treatment that is actually burned into the lens, it can’t be wiped away like other anti-fog coatings.
A key element in goggle/helmet compatibility. Engineered to adjust to a full range of face shapes and sizes, the Articulating Outrigger Positioning System evenly transfers pressure across the brow and nose to ensure a complete seal against the face. When used with a helmet, the outrigger articulates allowing the goggle frame to sink into the helmet face port, ultimately providing a comfortable and consistent fit every time.
Smith uses a unique urethane compound, which allows the frame to conform to individual facial features while maintaining its flexibility in extreme cold temperatures.
The Smith Evolve program integrates more ecologically-friendly materials into our products wherever possible. In 2008, Smith introduced goggles made from 96% re-ground urethane. Utilising recycled material from other companies, Smith reduced their dependency on virgin urethane. As the next step in the Evolve program, they have integrated Pearlthane ECO bio-TPU into their goggle line wherever possible. This material is composed of 40% bio-based material, derived from plant-based oils separate from the world’s food supply. Simply put, this new material performs equally as well as traditional urethane while contributing up to 40% fewer global warming emissions in the manufacturing of the material.
Ultra-plush. Perfect fit. Our dual layer DriWix compression-molded face foams seal out the wind and moisture for maximum comfort and performance.
Smith's high quality, durable, double-woven strap distributes pressure more evenly around the head to provide superior fit, adjustability and comfort.
