Climate Control

Dual Regulator

Temperature control is THE most important feature when considering how to enjoy an entire day in the snow. The new Smith Dual Regulator ventilation system independently controls the front and rear sections of the brand new Smith Vantage helmet venting, allowing you to modulate your body temperature even in extremely cold conditions. By exhausting heat through the ski helmet's rear vents, while maintaining a sealed front end, your body can effectively cool down if needed and avoid the dreaded 'ice cream headache'!

Regulator

Adjustable, easy to use and extremely effective climate control, Smith's low profile Regulator ventilation system allows you to modify the amount of airflow and heat exhaust even with a gloved hand. Can be found on the Smith Variant Brim, Hustle and Intrigue snow helmets.

Airflow

Smith helmets using Airflow ventilation have waterproof vent plugs for easy climate control in all snow conditions. Removal of vent plugs allows maximum airflow and heat exhaustion in warm temperatures. When installed, the vent plugs create a warm, dry seal from all mother nature can throw at you - rain, sleet or snow.

Fog Prevention

Airevac 2

The ultimate in goggle-helmet integration, AirEvac 2 connects shell vents and internal EPS channels to increase airflow and evacuate warm, moist air to prevent ski goggle fogging. Cool, dry air is consistently pulled into the ski goggles as the warm, moist air is exhausted over the wearer's head and out the rear of the helmet. Found on all premium Smith ski helmets, from the Smith Maze to the Smith Variant Brim and Smith Vantage helmets.

AirEvac

AirEvac uses a system of shell vents to actively pull warm , moist air out of the user's goggles and exhaust it out of the ski helmet to prevent fogging. Can be found on the Smith Holt ski helmet.

Construction

Hybrid Shell Construction

Smith’s Hybrid Shell construction combines separate lightweight and durable shells to create an entirely new helmet category. By fusing Smith's tough Bombshell ABS construction with flyweight In-Mold™ technology, their Hybrid Shell construction optimises the favorable traits of each material in the revolutionary process. The result is a modern design that provides a lightweight, low-profile, perfect fitting helmet. Hybrid Shell construction also creates a clean, smooth top surface by enabling the low profile Regulator to function with reduced mass and volume. Advancing their helmet construction process, Smith have created new Super Light or “SL” engineered parts. Each SL item has been minimised to the extreme while maintaining durability and part integrity in order to reduce weight and increase comfort.

In-Mold-construction 

The performance standard for ski helmets for many years, Smith In-Mold construction creates a lightweight helmet with an EPS liner to maximise protection, comfort and value.

X-Static Lining® – The Silver Fibre

X-Static is a silver coated textile fibre that enhances select Smith helmets with permanent and natural anti-odor, anti-static and thermo-dynamic properties.

• Anti-Odour: X-Static provides the most powerful antimicrobial and odor elimination system available by using pure silver to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi. X-Static is also the only product that binds with and neutralizes odor-causing ammonia and denatured proteins. Clinically proven to eliminate 99.9% of harmful micro-organisms within hours of exposure.
• Regulates Temperature: X-Static has the best possible thermodynamic properties that are capable of heat transfers, so you will stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
• Natural: X-Static is made with pure silver and contains no chemicals. It is perfectly safe for people and the environment.
• Permanent: Silver is permanently and irreversibly bonded to a fiber to create X-Static. It will not wash off or wear off and lasts for the life of the product.

Evolve X-Static® Lining

A full feature X-Static fabric that maintains its high level of performance while being ecologically friendly by using sustainable and renewable raw materials. Evolve X-Static is initially made by blending up to 50% recycled silver with other recycled materials to create a performance fabric that is 3.7% X-Static and 96.3% recycled polyester. Fabrics are then recycled at the end of their lifecycle to recover the silver content for further use. Evolve X-Static has earned the Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 accreditation, which certifies that they support human ecology through biocompatibility and the absence of harmful substances in the manufacturing process.

Helmet Fit System (HFS)

Great ski helmets start with a great fit. Smith’s proven ergonomic head form combined with the Helmet Fit System (HFS) provides exceptional performance and comfort. The soft, flexible plate and liner system contact the back of the head when the HFS is tightened for a proper fit. The self-centering system utilizes an intuitive pinch/pull design with 3 attachment points for easy operation to ensure a correct fit and maximum comfort.

Snapfit/Bombshell Fit Ear Pads

Ear pads are ergonomically designed to be form fitting and comfortable. Easily removed for washing and effortlessly reinstalled. New SL ear pads are found in the Smith Vantage ski helmet to reduce weight while maintaining comfort and warmth.

Goggle Lock

Securely retains the snow goggle strap on the helmet to ensure stability, comfort and performance.
