Giro Crash Helmet Replacement Programme

The Giro Crash Helmet Replacement Programme is available only to customers who are a resident in the UK and purchased their helmet from a UK dealer. A helmet up to three years old can be replaced at a reduced price, if it has been involved in an accident. The replacement will always be the same model as the original or the nearest current equivalent if the original is no longer available. When the same colour helmet is no longer available, the customer will be sent an alternative colour frm the current range.

Roc Loc 5 Fit System

After more than two-years of development, Giro introduces Roc Loc 5. This groundbreaking fit system provides an entirely unique user experience with an unmatched level of comfort, stability, adjustability and weight savings. With Roc Loc 5, you can easily dial-in both fit tension and adjust vertical position with a single hand. Just twist the dial for a tighter feel on rough terrain, then back it off a notch and relax across the flats or a warm climb. Even with these remarkable features, Roc Loc 5 is still nearly 40-percent lighter than its popular predecessor, Roc Loc 4.

• Micro Dial: The heart of Roc Loc 5 is this ratcheting, micro-adjusting dial. A simple, two-finger twist of the Micro Dial opens or closes the retention system and each click is audible.
• Three-Position Bracket: It’s never been easier to change vertical positions and fine-tune fit. We incorporated a three-position bracket that features 15-millimeters of up/down movement. Like the Micro Dial, this system can be adjusted without removing the helmet. Carefully-crafted ergonomic arms are shaped to be as comfortable as possible, yet work flawlessly with Giro eyewear (what we call Super Fit engineering).
• Dual Pods: These two panels are designed to firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe.
• Strap Baskets: With Roc Loc 5, your helmet straps are always right where you need them. Not to mention this strap basket brings a new level of comfort.

Roc Loc 4 Fit System

This system, found exclusively on the Xen, offers full adjustment of both fit tension and vertical position. Roc Loc 4 allows riders to easily customize fit, making the helmet more stable, especially on rough terrain.

 

Roc Loc SL Fit System

Minimal, simple, incredibly comfortable. With one quick adjustment of the webbing system, our new Roc Loc SL self-adjusts to provide a comfortable, secure fit. We’ve also spec’d supple, Italian-made, featherweight webbing material for maximum comfort. Roc Loc SL is found exclusively in our new Prolight race helmet. The Roc Loc SL fit sysyem is available on the Giro Prolight helmet.

 

Acu Dial Fit System

The Acu Dial system combines single-handed adjustment with a full fit band that brings a quick, sure ponytail-compatible fit in our line of Universal Fit helmets. The Acu Dial fit system is available in the Giro Rift helmet, Giro Indicator helmet & Giro Skyla helmet.

 

Universal Fit System

Giro's Universal Fit family of helmets is sculpted to look good and fit great for most people on the first try. By developing unique shell sizes based on select customer groups and combining them with an adjustable fit system, Universal Fit helmets make it easier for you get the right fit, right out of the box, right away. The universal fit system is available on the Giro Rift helmet, Giro Indicator helmet & Giro Skyla helmet.

 

Xstatic Padding

In addition to being very comfortable, our X-Static pads provide anti-microbial properties to help keep your helmet fresher, longer. The pads are also machine washable. The Giro Xstatic Padding technology is available in the Giro Ionos helmet & Giro Prolight helmet.

Wind Tunnel Ventilation

Giro helmets are developed utilizing our proprietary Wind Tunnel™ ventilation system, which combines active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the riders head-while forcing heat and stale air out. This significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will immediately feel and appreciate. Available on the Giro Hex helmet.

Roll Cage Protection

Roll Cage reinforcement is a tough web of DuPont ® Nylon® molded inside a helmet’s EPS foam liner. It provides an extra measure of strength and integrity that you’ll never notice…unless you need it.

 

In Mould

Our in-mold construction process fuses the helmet’s outer shell with its impact-absorbing EPS liner during the molding process, making the liner literally a part of the helmet. This fusion process reinforces areas around vents and ribs, creating a one-piece ‘exoskeleton’ that allows the helmet to be lighter, more durable, and better ventilated than traditional designs. Available on the Giro Prolight helmet.

 

In-Mould Composite Sub Frame

Giro's in-mold composite Sub-frame is a composite skeleton fused into a helmet’s EPS liner. Visible on the bridges between vents, this series of composite plates is directionally “tuned” to provide structural support, impact dispersion and penetration resistance. I.C.S technology is what allows us to carve those massive vents— as seen in our Ionos helmet, for example—without compromising rider protection. Available on the Giro Ionos helmet.

 

POV Visor

Point Of View visors are anchored by a patented internal clutch mechanism that allows 15-degrees of tool-free, on-the-fly vertical adjustment while preventing the visor from rattling and coming loose over rough and technical terrain. Available on the Giro Hex helmet.

  Super Fit Engineering

Super Fit engineering is the foundation of the Giro helmet design process. Every new ski helmet is scaled and shaped with reference to the Giro database of anatomic measurements, and designed around key features and rider input. Then, Giro tests the design repeatedly in the lab and in the hands of riders, using hand-crafter refinements to create a final helmet that fits and performs seamlessly with your body.

  In Form Fit System

The In Form system makes it easy to dial in a custom helmet fit in seconds - even withski gloves on. An ergo-friendly dial at the base of the helmet provides up to 6cm of adjustment and enhanced stability while the vertical tuning feature accomodates different ski and snowboard goggles and head shapes for a custom fit, free of snow goggle gap.

  Wind Tunnel Ventilation

Wind Tunnel ventilation combines active vents wth exhaust channels in the helmet liner that force cool, frwsh air over and around your head while forcing stale, warm air out. It's the ultimate cooling system, with performance that you can feel every time you ride. Available on the Giro Seam helmets and Giro Omen helmets.

 

  Super Cool Vents

Super Cool vents pull cool, fresh air into the helmet while pushing heat and stale air out. By maximising efficiency and optimising vent shapes, the collective cooling power of Super Cool vents helps to regulate your core temperature and keep you feeling fresh all day. Featured on the Giro Shiv helmets, Giro Revolver helmets, Giro Encore 2 helmets, Giro G10 helmets and Giro G9 helmets.

  Thermostat Control

The Giro Thermostat ventilation control allows you to custom tune airflow instantly with a simple low profile control button on the outside of the helmet. No other system is faster or easier to adjust, and nothing is more effective at keeping you comfortable. Featured on the Giro G10 helmets, Giro Prima helmets, Giro Seam helmets and Giro Omen helmets.

  In-Mold Construction

In-mold construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet’s impact-absorbing foam liner. The fusion process allows Giro to sculpt better ventilation systems, so In-mold helmets can be lighter and cooler than traditional helmets. Featured on the Giro G9 helmets, Giro G10 helmets, Giro Shiv helmets, Giro Seam helmets, Giro Omen helmets, Giro Ember helmets and Giro Prima helmets.

  Hard Shell Construction

A hard shell helmet is made up of a durable plastic shell that is laminated to an EPS foam liner. They provide performance at a great value. Featured on the Giro Encore 2 helmets and Giro Revolver helmets.

  Interior Subliner

The interior subliner allows you to customise your pads or pull them out completely for the ultimate in rider-tuned helmet fit. A soft velcro free fabric is laminated into the EPS foam on the inside of the helmet to make the fit more comfortable if you want to accomodate a beanie or ski goggle strap. Included on the Giro Shiv helmets and Giro Revolver helmets.

 

 

  Stack Vent

The Giro Stack Vent was developed based on research showing the majority of warm air that can cause fogging exhausts from the centre top vent of the ski or snowboard goggle. Aligning the Stack Vent in the helmet with the centre vent of your goggle helps to keep them clear and fog free while maintaing total helmet and goggle integration. Incorporated into the Giro Revolver helmets and Giro Seam helmets.

 

  Interior Goggle Channel

A removable pad at the base of the helmet conceals a deep channel that allows more room for your goggle strap if you want to run it inside your helmet. This translates to maximum comfort and ensures your Giro helmet maintains a low profile. Incoporated into the design of the Giro Revolver helmets.

 

  Fit Kit Pad System

Giro's Fit Kit pad system allows you to dial in your fit for maximum comfort. When you get your helmet there will be a pad kit of varying thicknesses that will allow you to mix and match pads to customize the fit of your snow helmet.

Skullcandy Audio Tuneups

Offers great stereo sound with an in-line mute button and a volume dial for quick, simple sound control when you need it. The system installs in a snap without tools.

Mag Clip Goggle Retainer

Two rare earth magenets embedded under the shell of the helmet work with a removable goggle clip that threads easily into any snow goggle strap to provide a goggle retainer that's only there when you need it and disappears when you don't. As seen on the Giro Shiv helmets.

True Sight Lenses

Check out the video below that shows how Giro True Sight goggle lenses are made in conjunction with Carl Zeiss Vision. 

True Sight lenses are engineered to maximize optical performance. By taper correcting the lens, we are able to minimize prismatic distortion and provide superior optics. In addition, Giro True Sight lenses are spherical in shape; this mimic’s the form of the human eye to provide better optics, and increases air volume inside the goggle to help prevent fogging. The manufacturing and quality testing of True Sight lenses is performed by Carl Zeiss Vision, the leading name in optics quality worldwide.

 Persimmon Boost (50%-60% VLT)

A performance tint that heightens detail and contrast when light is low or flat.

It is generally the case that people don't have standard head sizes, which is why the majority of Giro helmets have the In-Form Fit system that allows you to customise the fit using a dial in the back of the helmet. Giro have thought of everything and have cleverly designed the dial so it can adjusted with your gloves on! Where the In-Form Fit System is not available, Giro provide a 'Fit Kit' which is a series of comfort pads of different thickness to ensure you get the perfect fit.

Alberto started competitive cycling at age 15 and he won his first Tour de France in 2007 with the Discovery Channel team. With Team Astana, he has won the 2008 Giro d’Italia, the 2008 Vuelta a España, the 2009 Tour de France and the 2010 Tour de France. He is the fifth racer in history, and the first from Spain, to win all three Grand Tours of road cycling.

LANCE ARMSTRONG

Name: Lance Armstrong : D.O.B: 18/ 09/ 1971 : Sport: Road Cycling : Hometown: Dallas, TX, USA

Lance is best known for winning the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times… after having survived cancer. He also founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer research and support.

LEVI LEIPHIMER

Name: Levi Leipheimer : D.O.B: 24/ 10/ 1973 : Sport: Road Cycling : Hometown: Butte, Montana, USA

Levi has had 4 top ten finishes in the Tour de France and came third overall in 2007. He also won the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing for the road time trial. Levi lives in Santa Rosa, California with his wife Odessa.

OSCAR FREIRE

Name: Oscar Freire : D.O.B: 15/ 02/ 1976 : Sport: Road Cycling : Hometown: Torrelavega, Cantabria

Oscar is one of the top sprinters in road cycling and he’s won the world championship three times. He has also won Milan – San Remo three times. Yup, Freire is a feared sprinter.

Name: Steve Fisher : D.O.B: 21 / 09 / 1982 : Sport: Snowboarding : Hometown: St. Louis Park, USA

As a boy, his home mountain was one of the first halfpipes in the Midwest. Steve rode every day and night until he was ten. He began competing in competitions at eight and qualified for USASA nationals by age nine. Fisher went pro in 2002 when he became a part of US Snowboarding. He is currently ranked the #1 halfpipe rider in the United States by the USSA ranking system.

ANTTI AUTTI

Name: Antti Autti : D.O.B: 15 / 03 / 1985 : Sport: Snowboarding : Hometown: Rovaniemi, Finland

Antti shot to fame when he defeated big-name talents Danny Kass, Andy Finch, and Shaun White in the Men’s Superpipe at the 2005 Winter X Games to claim the gold. He is one of two snowboarders, along with Giro rider Steve Fisher, ever to beat Shaun White in the X Games Superpipe.

JUUSO LAVISTO

Name: Juuso Lavisto : D.O.B: 4th June : Sport: Snowboarding : Hometown: Espoo, Finland

Juuso made his way from Espoo, Finland following a long line of Finnish snowboarders. His smooth calculated snowboard style reflects his precision, making difficult tricks look easy.

GRETCHEN BLEILER

Name: Gretchen Bleiler : D.O.B: 10 / 04 / 1981 : Sport: Snowboarding : Hometown: Aspen, USA

Gretchen began snowboarding at age ten when her family moved to Aspen, Colorado. She is a four-time Winter-X gold medalist and she earned silver in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Colby began freestyle skiing at age 13 and is a three-time Winter X bronze medalist. Even with no formal ski background, West has quickly made it to the top of the free skiing scene excels at multiple disciplines.

PETER OLENICK

Name: Peter Olenick : Sport: Skiing : Hometown: Apsen, USA

Peter grew up skiing at Buttermilk Mountain with his brother and Winter X veteran sister. He learned to put his heart and soul into skiing, and he podiums in both Slopestyle and SuperPipe. He impressed the crowd in 2007 with his Whiskey flip (a double flatspin) in SuperPipe which earned him the bronze and he added that to the Slopestyle silver and SuperPipe bronze he earned at his first Winter X in 2004.

SIMON DUMONT

Simon Dumont has eight X Games medals, a Guinness World Record, countless podium performances and handfuls of film segments under his belt. He’s at home in the halfpipe, in a terrain park or in the backcountry which go to show you that Simon is one of the hardest working guys in skiing.
