The Bollé story began in the small town of Oyonnax, France in 1888. There Seraphim Bollé started his company by first manufacturing combs and hair ornaments for the boxwood and horn indigenous to the region. After WWII, Bollé led the way in molding nylon to the highest standards in the world. Safety glasses and goggles were added to the Bollé line in 1950 and in 1956 Georges Bollé created the famous nylon 'cat-eye' sunglass. And in 1960, ski goggles were first marketed by Bollé. Leading the industry in product innovations, the Bollé family took the business from a small cottage industry to one of the world's most prominent manufacturers of premium eyewear.

Now, over 100 years later, Bollé products are distributed and worn all over the world. Bollé has developed particular strength in the sports specialty markets of snow sports, golf, tennis, and marine, as well as eyewear that meets everyday needs and styles.

RxSport offers a quality service where almost all styles of Bolle sunglasses and Bolle ski goggles can be made to your individual prescription.

 

Through exclusive advances in technology, the Bollé® National Sun RX Program offers a precise fit and a broader, more accurate field of view in even the most advanced and dynamic Bollé frames. Bolle offers a wider range of lens options for wrapped sunglass prescriptions in single vision and progressive. With RX, lenses can be fitted precisely to wraparound frames, and with special freeform edging technology.

With the Bolle Prescription sunglasses programme you can effectively order à la carte — lens and frame combinations can be customised to match your sporting needs. 

The results are clear and evident in every RX (prescription) job — wider field of clear vision, dramatically reduced eye fatigue, and thinner edges that hold more securely even in the most radical wrap frames. Every RX job results in a unique, customised pair of sunglasses, allowing many prescription wearers to show their style with the latest Bollé designs and help them to see clearly with advanced technology. All Bolle prescription sunglasses use polycarbonate lenses which are impact-resistant and block harmful UVA/UVB rays providing premium protection from the sun.

Prescription Inserts or Directly Glazed Sunglasses?

Bolle RX programme offers two ways of adding a prescription to sunglasses - Prescription inserts or directly glazed. Have a look at our quick pros and cons below:

Bolle Prescription Inserts

Pros

• More options with higher power prescriptions because of high wrapped frames
• More options with interchangeable lens to allow for changing conditions and flexibility
• Less expensive than directly glazed sunglasses
• Simply take the insert out if want to use sunglasses with contact lenses

Cons

• Small chance of fogging - this can be rectified with anti-fog wipes
• If used with an outer lens that has a lighter tint, the insert may be visible on the outside. 

Bolle Directly Glazed Sunglasses

Pros

• More aesthetically pleasing and neat
• Lighter in weight and less bulky
• Wider field of vision

Cons

• More expensive than inserts
• Limitations for higher power prescriptions
• Unless photochromic lenses are used, less flexibility with changing lens tints to match the conditions.

Ultra Violet Protection

All Bollé lenses block harmful UVA/UVB rays up to 400 nanometers.

P80 Plus/Carbo Glas® [Anti-Fog/Anti-Scratch]

Applied to all Bolle polycarbonate lenses, P80 Plus/Carbo Glas is the Bollé® proprietary coating that provides maximum protection against unwanted lens fogging and most scratching.

Double Lens Thermal Barrier

The Bollé unique double lens design creates a thermal barrier, while providing exceptional optics and a superior seal.

Modulator Lens

A state-of-the-art, high contrast, light reactive lens that changes lens tint density with the changing light conditions. The more UV light exposed to the lens, the darker the lens will become. Available on: Bolle Fathom, Monarch, Nova, Nebula, Y6 and X9 ski goggles. 

Polarised Lens

Bollé features Brown and Aurora polarised lenses with a polarised film that blocks the horizontal reflected component of light. The result is enhanced contrast so you will see more terrain features and icy patches. Featured on the Bolle Gravity, Fathom, Monarch, Nova, Nebula, and X9 ski goggles. Available in Polarised brown and aurora.

Bolle Sport Specific Lenses

       

Bolle EagleVision lenses is engineered to optimise the green portion of the colour spectrum, revealing all the green's deceptive breaks, undulations and textures.

Bolle Marine sunglasses offer the perfect lens for lasting comfort in ocean and lake environments by offering polarisation technology, hydrophobic and anti-reflective coatings. OffShore Blue lens is for harsh light conditions and the Inland Gold lens is for lower light conditions.

Bolle Competivision lenses are designed to mute every colour in the spectrum except optic yellow, making the tennis ball pop so you can react more quickly.

Bolle Modulator Lenses

Conditions change - the Bolle modulator lens changes with them. Active cell technology works at the molecular level, quickly responding to changing light conditions to give you the best eye protection and performance. Unlike other variable light lenses, which are applied as a layer on the lens, Bolle photochromic technology is embedded into the lens under a highly protective hardcoat to prevent wear. The lenses react with UV rays, therefore they will not change if driving or inside.
