The Sweet Igniter II MIPS was built for intrepid freeskiers spending long days on the mountain. A durable ABS hardshell is kept lightweight thanks to Sweet's unique build, also featuring adjustable vents for enhanced comfort when on the move. MIPS gives added peace of mind in the event of oblique impact by reducing the risk of rotational brain injury.
"The Igniter II is our lightest and most ventilated freeride helmet. It is a versatile performance helmet using our ABS superlight shell technology and the unique Impact Shields liner for optimal protection performance. The helmet is updated with our Performance interior making it easier to fasten and adjust. The helmet is Audio Ready." - Sweet Protection

ABS Thermoplastic Shell - Superlight
Sweet's injection moulded ABS Thermoplastic Shell – Superlight is impact resistant through its special rubber toughened construction.
The shell is moulded with extreme precision to offer the best performance to weight ratio through variable thicknesses.
MIPS - Multi-Directional Impact Protection System
A unique technology developed to reduce brain injuries. MIPS reduces the rotational forces on the brain by up to 50% by allowing the helmet to slightly rotate relative to the head. Conventional helmets are tested by dropping them vertically onto a flat surface. MIPS is designed to deal with how most accidents actually occur, with oblique impacts to the head. MIPS sets a new standard in helmet safety.
Helmets with Impact Shields feature a moulded shock absorbing EPS liner with Impact Shield inserts that provide unsurpassed performance for shock absorbance. This is Sweet's premium impact protection technology. It distributes impacts from the inside of the helmet over larger areas in the crucial front and back zones where your head needs it.
Fitting & Comfort Technology
Open / Close Vents
Easy to operate open/close air inlets for on-the-go temperature adjustment meaning you can keep cool or crank up the warmth when on the move.
A 3D-shaped, vented helmet lining furnishes the interior, with moisture-wicking properties to keep you feeling fresh. The liner is removable and machine washable.
Removable Box-Constructed Earpads
Earpads cradle the ears rather than compressing them into the pad, enhancing comfort and hearing ability. Compatible with aftermarket drop-in audio systems.
Occigrip Turn Dial Fit System
A low volume helmet adjustment system that is easy to use. Provides a firm and comfortable fit and prevents the helmet from rolling on your head.
MIPS is used to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in the case of an oblique impact. Sweet helmets are created to absorb direct impacts very efficiently and when combined with MIPS, Sweet helmets absorb oblique forces better by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner.
When you fall to the ground at an angle rotational forces are generated. A helmet integrating MIPS technology creates a sliding layer between the outer shell and the head. This allows the helmet's outer shell to slide relative to the head when hitting the ground, so the rotational force is decreased, reducing the potential to damage your brain.
The above shows a simulated deformation of the brain from angled impact when the user is wearing a helmet with and without MIPS. Highest levels of strain are shaded red with the lowest levels dark blue.
