Skiing In Scotland

January 2019

In honour of Burn’s Night 2019, we’re taking our focus North and looking at Skiing in Scotland.

The Scottish ‘season’ usually runs from mid December through to early April, but as with any resort, this varies massively depending on snowfall. If you were to look at heading up between January and late March though you should be in luck! Conditions are changeable, so make sure that you are ready to visit at short notice!

In a recent Telegraph article it was estimated that in excess of 247,000 people visited the mountains of Scotland for skiing last season. This was helped by record snow depths and sites staying open until May, far later than expected. All of this has given Scottish skiing a much needed boost in popularity and we expect 2019 to be even better.

So where would we pick as five places to consider in 2019…

  • GLENSHEE. ABERDEENSHIRE.
  • GLENCOE. HIGHLANDS.
  • CAIRNGORM MOUNTAIN. HIGHLANDS.
  • LECHT. ABERDEENSHIRE.
  • NEVIS RANGE. HIGHLANDS.

There’s an awesome feature on the Visit Scotland website that allows you to sign up to snow alerts online. This is great if you’re local and want to head out on fresh snow – https://www.visitscotland.com/see-do/active/skiing-snowsports/snow-alert-signup/
