Oakley MOD 1 Helmet Range – New For 2019!

New on the scene this season is the Oakley MOD 1 Helmet. As always, it’s designed to meet Oakley’s three key principals for any helmet in their range – Protection, Fit and Eyewear Integration with their goggle range.

You’ve only got to look at the MOD 1 to see that its styling is on trend right now. Better yet it comes with both a BOA 360’ Fit System and MIPS (also available in non-MIPS) as standard. They’ve used a Fidlock buckle system to make it easy to take it on and off even whilst wearing gloves.

A lightweight and low-profile design inspired by the classic skate-style helmet. The MOD 1 delivers simplicity with premium functionality for wherever your on-mountain adventures take you.

With its sleek design and clean finish it’s perfect for any freestyler/ freerider but looks great whatever your style.

Oakley have also rethought their helmet liner for the MOD 1, they’ve moved away from an ear-muff, padded style and opted for more of a beanie inspired liner, which pairs perfectly with the helmets design. As with most liners, it’s completely removable and can be machine washed, which is a great added bonus after several days of heavy use on the slopes.

Key Features

  • BOA 360 adjustable fit system
  • 6 fixed ventilation channels
  • Fidlock magnetic buckle
  • Removable liner and earpads
  • Goggle vents
  • Integrated MIPS technology

If you want our honest opinion, it’s a helmet that is packing a lot of neat safety features into a great looking package at a fantastic price. Discover the full range below.

Introducing The Oakley DRT5 MTB Helmet

When Oakley released their ARO collection (ARO3, ARO5 and ARO7) of Road Cycling helmets in 2018, we knew it wouldn’t be long until an MTB helmet would be on the cards.

At Eurobike 2018 the DRT5 was launched and the buzz has been incredible. Key Facts:

  • Versatile trial helmet featuring MIPS technology and articulating visor
  • 13 ventilation channels help to maximise airflow and maintain comfort when on the move
  • Rear eyewear stowing mechanism allows safe storage of sunglasses when not worn
  • Sweat-wicking silicone brow pad and adjustable BOA 360° fit system

Skiing In Scotland

In honour of Burn’s Night 2019, we’re taking our focus North and looking at Skiing in Scotland.

The Scottish ‘season’ usually runs from mid December through to early April, but as with any resort, this varies massively depending on snowfall. If you were to look at heading up between January and late March though you should be in luck! Conditions are changeable, so make sure that you are ready to visit at short notice!

In a recent Telegraph article it was estimated that in excess of 247,000 people visited the mountains of Scotland for skiing last season. This was helped by record snow depths and sites staying open until May, far later than expected. All of this has given Scottish skiing a much needed boost in popularity and we expect 2019 to be even better.

So where would we pick as five places to consider in 2019…

There’s an awesome feature on the Visit Scotland website that allows you to sign up to snow alerts online. This is great if you’re local and want to head out on fresh snow –
